Agenda

1. Sangha commentary
   1. There had been a request that DSC be a fragrance free zone.
      Discussion: Barbara stated that that had always been the case. It was decided to remind the sangha of this.
      1. A message will be put on the teachers yahoo group email.
      2. Peg will make a sign for the entrance of DSC as a reminder and to note this in the classschedule and newsletter.
   
   
2. Need for Board Secretary
   1. Anna resigned so that job is being covered by other Board members in the interim.
   2. Sherry taking minutes this month
   3. Linda will take minutes in July
   4. Volunteers to become secretary
   1. I. Deferred until Board intensive when new Board members are present
   
   
3. Administrative
   1. Financials (Sherry)
      1. All financial processes continued during the previous month. Sherry has trained Tana. Tana has signed up for online training for some programs that DSC uses. She will be reimbursed for the training for 3 months - approximately $30/month.
      2. Linda will get Tana's name on the DSC credit card.
      3. We will need to update some office software. Tana will get a complete estimate for that and contact the Board with the information She will also look for a new monitor which has been approved in the budget.
      4. Simon will donate an external hard drive to assist in backing up DSC information on the computer
   2. Database, etc. (Peg)
      1. Peg has been working with the new OM to acquaint her with the DSC database.
   3. Class coordination (Barbara)
      1. Barbara will check with GTAG as to Vivian's intention to continue as the class coordinator. It was noted that she has been doing an excellent job.
   4. Coverage during retreat week
      1. Sherry will be the contact person for coverage during the retreat week. Tana will contact her if necessary.
   5. Newsletter
      1. Rori will be responsible as the "content editor" for the next two DSC newsletters. We will need a new volunteer to fill her position. Peg will call Rori to discuss with her.
   
   
4. Recruiting for a new OM Curt
   1. New OM hired - Tana Dean. She thanked the board and looks forward to working with DSC. Linda Longo will send Tana the timesheet file for her to track her hours for payroll. Linda will verify that Tana is set up in DSC payroll by Armi.
   2. Follow-up with applicants
      1. All the applicants who applied have been contacted that a new OM has been hired.
   
   
5. Treasurer's report (Linda/Sherry)
   1. May Actuals
      1. Linda reported that we appear to be right on target with the budget. She presented this information to the Board.
      2. Sherry and Class Coordinator on payroll
      1. Sherry will ending her position as a temporary OM's this month. Tana has completed her paperwork for her position and started with DSC last week.
   
   
6. Calendar (All, 10 minutes) and Social Committee
   1. Upcoming events
      1. Retreat at Albion will be held next week
   2. Picnic in August (Linda)
      1. Proposed date is for Saturday, August 15 @ 2 PM
      2. Linda will contact Tom Slank that this date will work.
      3. Linda will make up the flyer for the picnic. Tana will put the date in the DSC calendar and send out an email to the sangha when it is cleared with Friend's Lake
   
   
7. Bookstore
   1. Bill Altork book FortySeven Stories of Jesus, by Aaron
      1. The book has been purchased and copies are available through the DSC bookstore. This is very well edited version ofexcerptsof Aaron's Christmas Stories from the last 20 years.
   
   
8. Board member recruiting
   1. Curt to contact Tom Slank and Lisa Zucker to invite them to join the Board.
   2. Peg contacted Sandra Villafuerte and she accepted the invitation to be a Board member.
   
   
9. Retreat committee report
   1. Status
      1. there are 22 full week registrations and 16 registrations for the weekend. A total of 38 registrants.
   2. Upcoming retreats
      1. Anticipate a retreat at the Howell Nature Center in October 2009
   
   
10. On hold: Board book maintenance
    1. Update all board books, weed out the old stuff
